Remote Desktop App TeamViewer Touch Comes To Windows 8
Remote desktop applications are a great way to diagnose and solve problems on other computers over the internet. Remote access can be of multiple types; some connections allow you to just view the desktop screen, and whatever is happening on it, while others equip you with the ability to control almost all the aspects of a remote computer, letting you access different software, open menus, and perform actions as if you’re physically present in front of it. People who frequently have to deal with complex computer issues can benefit from such solutions by providing remote access to someone who knows how to fix such problems. One of the most famous remote desktop solutions out there is TeamViewer, which is currently available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. Using TeamViewer, you can remotely control your computer from any Teamviewer-configured system. Today, TeamViewer has released the preview version of TeamViewer Touch, a Modern UI app that will allow you to remotely control computers from your Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT-powered devices.
In order to get TeamViewer Touch, go to Windows Store, use Win+Q hotkey to bring up Search Charms. Now, type “teamviewer touch” and press enter. From the search results, choose the tile named TeamViewer Touch to open its in-Store page.
Once you are on the main page, you can read its description, checkout user reviews and download the app to your computer. Click the Install button available on the left side to quickly download and install the app to your computer.
When you run the app, you are greeted with a rather simple interface, that allows you to instantly connect to remote computers. If you have a TeamViewer account, you can sign in using your credentials from the right side.In the left side, enter the ID of the remote computer in order to connect and control it. Once you have entered the ID, you will need a password to complete the authentication process.
As soon as you enter the password, it starts establishing a remote connection with the computer. You now have access to every element of the remote system. It lets you gain complete control over the remote computer by allowing you to execute applications and make changes to different system settings.
Right-click inside the app to reveal options for using Ctrl+Alt+Del hotkey, moving the display to Next Monitor (if multiple monitors are connected to the remote computer) and Keyboard (for tablet devices).
Pressing Win + I gives you access to the settings charms from the right side, from where you can open the Event Log to view activities performed during the session.
TeamViewer Touch works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 8. We tested it on Windows 8 64-bit.

How to Prevent Users from Uninstalling Apps from Start Screen in Windows 8
The Windows 8 start screen is probably one of the most important feature and there are many other features linked to it. One of the feature is the ability to uninstall metro apps easily from the start screen. Metro apps are the ones which are installed from Windows Store. But if your PC is used by other users, you might probably want to prevent others from uninstalling apps you have installed on your Windows 8. Although there is an option to prevent this using Group policy, this option is not available in all versions of Windows 8.
So in such cases, it is best to prevent uninstalling using the registry hack. Please note that, this trick involves editing the registry of Windows, do not attempt it if you are not sure on modifying registry. Also, take a backupof registry before editing it.
Open the registry using the Run command (Win + R) and type regedit and press enter. Now navigate to this key,HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindows
In the next step, you need to create a new Key Explorer under the Windows.
Now select this new key and create a new DWORD value NoUninstallFromStart under the Explorer key.

How to Get Back Windows 7 Task Manager in Windows 8
However, I missed the Windows 7 Task Manager. Some of you might say that I was having a hard time dealing with the changes like the average Windows user and that may well be true. But I feel that Windows 7 Task manager is much more user friendly when compared to its successor. Take End Process Tree option for an example. In the Windows 7 version, we could use it to force kill an application along with all the related processes. In the new one though, all I can do is end the task.
So the question of the day boils down to this – how to get our good old Windows 7 task manager back?
How to Get Back Windows 7 Task Manager
Step 1: Download this archive file on your computer and extract the folder named TM in C: root assuming that you have installed Windows in that drive. This archive contains one-click registry integration files and the Task Manager file from Windows 8 Boot.wim files.Step 2: After you have extracted the file, simply run the installation registry file corresponding to your system architecture. If you are not sure about your Windows architecture, open Computer and click on the button System properties in the menu ribbon.
In System properties, look for System type. Here you can see whether its x64 or x86.
The file will replace the Windows 8 Task Manager instantly and you won’t even have to reboot your system to see the changes. After applying the fix, right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager to see Windows 7 Task Manager.
Note: Don’t delete the TM folder as long as you are using the Windows 7 Task Manager.
How it Works
Honestly, I don’t exactly know how the fix works but I think might be able to give you a vague idea. The registry fix forces Windows 8 Operating System to use the Task Manager files that are included in the archive and not the one that’s already installed.Few Things to Note
The Windows 7 Task Manager will work flawlessly except:- The Startup Manager that we used to have in msconfig (system configuration) of Windows 7 has made its way to Task Manager in Windows 8. Therefore, after you replace the Windows 8 Task Manager with the Windows 7 one, you will not find find the startup configuration option at both the places. Therefore, after replacing the Task Manager, if you ever want to configure Windows startup, you will have to use a third-party alternative.
Quick Startup is one such application you can use to reduce your Windows boot time. You will like this tool far more than the Windows default Startup Manager.
- As the Modern Apps were launched in Windows 8, the previous Task Manager cannot detect them and thus would not be included in the list of active apps. After switching the Task Manager, if you want to close Modern Apps you will have to switch over to them and then close each of them individually by holding the top bar and dragging it down to close it.
Conclusion

The app is really good at what it does; however, it needs a bit of polishing to make it more usable by ironing the quirks out. For instance you have to keep the app maximized in order to listen to music; if you minimize it, or even pin it to the side, the music stops playing. Moreover, you cannot search for a particular song or artist. Adding these features, specially the ability to keep the song playing in the background would definitely make the app stand out.
