How to Use Android or iPhone As a Presentation Remote Control

Presentations has significant importance in many fields such as classroom lecturing, businesses, etc. To deliver a presentation to an audience, usually we use a remote control or a wireless mouse to change the slides. However, if above two options aren’t available, here is how you can use your smartphone (iPhone or Android) as a remote control for your presentation.
Presentation Remote is a free web service that lets you control your presentations with your smartphone (currently it works with Chrome and Safari browsers only). The working procedure is very simple, just as described below.
- Install the extension “Presentation Remote” in Chrome from Web Store and then install a free mobile app “de Mobo” on your Android or iPhone.
- Now, open the “Presentation Remote” web app in Chrome and click “Connect” button. It’ll show a QR Code. On your phone, open “de Mobo” app, tap “Create Connection”, and then scan the QR Code to establish connection with your phone and computer (Make sure the phone and computer are using the same Wi-Fi network for reliable performance).

- Once both your phone and computer are connected, copy and paste the presentation URL into the text field. You can use PPT, PDF or Word document saved on your Google Drive or Dropbox as well as Slideshar, Scribd or Google docs presentation.

Easily Search For Files Or Folders On The Network With LanHunt

Easily Search For Files Or Folders On The Network With LanHunt:
Local networks allow easy sharing of files between multiple computers but if there is a large number of files and folders shared on a network, managing all of them can be a bit difficult. If you are looking for a particular file or folder and don’t remember the computer it was on or its path on that computer, things can get a little frustrating. The Windows search option works great to look for files onyour local storage, but not quite so for network files. Today, we have an open source application for you called LanHunt that allows you to search for shared files and folders on the network. You can quickly search for network content and narrow down the results using file-type filters. In addition, the Open Location feature allows you to directly access the parent folder of a required file.

LanHunt’s user friendly interface allows you to search for files without having to go into any difficult configurations. When you run the app for the first time, the interface will appear to be a bit bland and not up-to-par with today’s design standards – something that the developer can and should improve. There is a search field in the center and right below it is the drop-down menu to change the file type, along with the Hunt button. You can choose to search all files, videos, audio files, documents or just executable file.
LanHunt 1.3
The application keeps a local database of files and folders on the network. Before you can start searching for files and folders using the application, you will need to the database. Just click the Update DB button at the top, hit Start and wait for the update to complete.

A very useful feature is that you can specify the IP range for searching the files. In order to avoid getting results from unwanted computers attached to the network, enter the start and end of the IP range that you want to include in the search.

When one or more matches for your search are found, they will be listed with link provided to you for directly open their location. The taskbar works like a control center for Windows that allows you manage all the running applications, launch new ones through pinned shortcuts, access the Start Menu and view the system tray items such as running services, time clock etc. The default taskbar options in Windows 7 allow you to change the Taskbar appearance, including the grouping and size of icons, the Notification area, and use of Aero Peek. Play Songs That Match Your Mood Or The Weather With Smart Music For Windows 8

As different people, we all have varied tastes in music. While rock lovers consider it to be the king of all musical genres, trance enthusiasts and those in love with other genres, tend to disagree. Other than the people who are faithful to only one music genre, many (like me) like to listen to different genres, depending on their mood. For instance, I might listen to rock or trance while I am driving, but choose an ambient playlist before going to sleep. In order to listen to music according to your mood, you need to have pre-made playlists. If you have a huge music collection, creating a different playlist for each mood can be a tedious task, while just randomly playing songs from your collection can even have a negative effect on your mood. Currently, there are a lot of web services as well as Android and iOS apps that allow you to listen to music according to your mood. Today, we present to you an app for Windows 8 called Smart Music that does the same for Microsoft’s latest desktop and tablet OS. It features readymade playlists for different types of moods, and provides you with a built-in player to stream the songs directly to your Windows 8 device.

The main interface of the application has songs grouped into different mood categories such as Happy, Sad, Crazy, In Love, and Sleepy. Click a song to go to the built-in player and start streaming it.
Smart Music Main
At the top right corner, you’re bound to notice the “I’m feeling … click here to let me know” text; just click ‘here’ to choose a mood you are in. Other than the mood, you can also specify the current weather from Sunny Day, Rainy All, Cloudy and Snowy, and the current time of the day from Morning, Afternoon and Evening.
Smart Music Mood
When you have selected your current mood, weather and time of the day, click the blue tick mark to open up a list of songs related to your query.
Smart Music Albums
Hitting the Play button instantly opens up the music player and starts playing the selected song. You can also share the song with your friends using the People or Mail app.
Smart Music Share
The Show Song List button in the lower left corner of the music player opens up the list of all the songs in the playlist to easily switch between them
Smart Music Song List
The app is really good at what it does; however, it needs a bit of polishing to make it more usable by ironing the quirks out. For instance you have to keep the app maximized in order to listen to music; if you minimize it, or even pin it to the side, the music stops playing. Moreover, you cannot search for a particular song or artist. Adding these features, specially the ability to keep the song playing in the background would definitely make the app stand out.
Smart Music works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 8. In order to get the app, go to Windows Store and search for Smart Music. Click the Install button on the main page in order to download and install the app to your Windows 8 or Windows RT device.
